About the Project
Unified Experiential Learning is a portal where students can apply for jobs and other experience-based programs. In uOttawa they have 4 such programs (Coop, Work and Study, Community Engagement and Jobs Now) and the goal of the project is to integrate all the programs into one Unified Experiential Learning Portal
There were 3 categories of user – Students, Employers and the University of Ottawa Staff, each one of them using the portal in different ways.

The UX Process:
The UX process consisted of different steps and phases, throughout the project we followed a user-centric approach.
User Research
- Conducted Focus Groups and Interviews
- Created Personas and User Journey Maps
Requirements Gathering
- Evaluated the current state of the application
- Gathered future state requirements from the stakeholders
- Created detailed Business Process and Business Requirement documentation
Solution Design
- Updated the business process to better align with user needs
- Created Wireframes and Prototypes to visualize and iterate on the UI
- Created Design System based on uOttawa Branding
- Collaborated with the developers to check the technical feasibility of the solution
Development
- Created User Stories and Tasks for the developers on Jira
- Coordinated with the development team to build the solution
Testing
- Conducted User Acceptance Testing with the Users and Stakeholders
- Tested the applications for Accessibility and potentials bugs.

The Designs:
The User Interface created for the project was carefully designed so that it was easy for the users to migrate to the new design at the same time the new users find it easier to navigate through the applications. Based on the review with the users, most of the users found the new design easy to use and visually appealing.
